How to care for your mask:

The natural surface of leather has varying textures and shadowy furrows. Care is given to hide selection and pattern placement before cutting. Unique markings on the hide are a visually pleasing way to distinguish genuine leather from man made materials. Color variation’s occur when using the same dye color on two different hides. For example, dye color can appear darker or lighter from one mask to the next. The reason for this has to do with the unique texture, density and moisture content of each hide. The leather is hand-dyed and so there are slight variations in hue from mask to mask. It’s best keep your mask out of direct sunlight for long periods of time. Sunlight will alter the color of your mask over time.

Use a damp cloth to remove dirt and dust once a week. Do not use soap! A leather conditioner or cream moisturizes the material so that it doesn’t dry out and crack. If you want to condition your leather mask, we recommend every 6-12 months in normal humidity locations and every 3 - 6 months in low humidity locations.

Leather Care

Handmade leather lasts a lifetime with a little care. Every 3 to 6 months, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and apply a quality leather conditioner to keep it supple and help prevent drying and cracking. If it gets wet, blot it gently and let it air dry at room temperature, away from heaters, hair dryers and direct sun. Store it somewhere cool and dry with some airflow, never in a plastic bag or a damp space, which can cause mildew. Hats keep their shape best stored upside down on the crown or on a hat stand. Leather that has dried out or been neglected isn't covered under repairs.

Alterations and Repairs

Each handmade leather piece includes one free fitting adjustment if requested within 30 days of purchase. After that, alterations and repairs are quoted by the hour, and payment is due before work begins. The customer pays return shipping for all alterations, including the free one.

Alteration turnaround is 2 to 4 weeks from the day we receive the item, depending on our handcrafting schedule. Rush service isn't guaranteed.
