Order by Dec 14 to ensure your gifts arrive by Christmas! 🎄
This one-of-a-kind leather wizard hat was handcrafted by master leatherworker DeWayne Ross in Silver City, New Mexico. Its tall, hand-shaped crown and brim are made to look like they came straight out of an old spellbook, and it is built to last for years of wear.
The photos show the actual hat for sale. There is only one, and it is in stock and ready to ship.
Materials: Vegetable-tanned, full-grain leather in black. Unlined, with no sweatband, hatband or hardware. As with all real leather, small natural marks are part of its character, and the leather will develop a deep patina over time.
Size: 59 cm (23.2") head circumference (US hat size 7 1/4), height 17 cm (6 3/4"), brim 47.5 cm (18 3/4").
Features:
Handcrafted: Every piece was cut by hand and the whole hat was stitched by hand. DeWayne never uses sewing machines or machine cutters.
Custom Orders: Want one in your size, or in another color, height, brim width, lining or hardware, or even in hair-on-hide? Custom orders are welcome and take 2–4 weeks of handcrafting before shipping. We'll send you a quote first, and no payment is taken until you accept it. Accepted orders are paid in full, with no deposits. Email KneelingNunSoapworks@gmail.com or call 575-342-1552.
Leather Care
Handmade leather lasts a lifetime with a little care. Every 3 to 6 months, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth and apply a quality leather conditioner to keep it supple and help prevent drying and cracking. If it gets wet, blot it gently and let it air dry at room temperature, away from heaters, hair dryers and direct sun. Store it somewhere cool and dry with some airflow, never in a plastic bag or a damp space, which can cause mildew. Hats keep their shape best stored upside down on the crown or on a hat stand. Leather that has dried out or been neglected isn't covered under repairs.
Alterations and Repairs
Each handmade leather piece includes one free fitting adjustment if requested within 30 days of purchase. After that, alterations and repairs are quoted by the hour, and payment is due before work begins. The customer pays return shipping for all alterations, including the free one.
Alteration turnaround is 2 to 4 weeks from the day we receive the item, depending on our handcrafting schedule. Rush service isn't guaranteed.
Care: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt, and avoid soap and harsh cleaners. Apply a leather conditioner every 6–12 months (every 3–6 months in dry climates) to keep it supple. Test any conditioner on a hidden spot first. Store away from prolonged direct sunlight and heat, and keep the crown supported or stuffed with paper so it holds its shape.
Policy: All sales are final. Only damaged or defective items are exceptions.
Kneeling Nun Leatherworks: made by hand, one piece at a time.
